Principal’s welcome
In a multicultural world, the ability to connect and collaborate with people from any background is the best preparation for life beyond school. At ISS Lisbon, our culture is built around the spirit of sharing. Sharing our diverse cultural heritages to grow as global citizens. Sharing educational experiences that cultivate a lifelong love of learning. And sharing our time and energy to ensure students don’t simply feel included, they feel like they belong.
This emphasis on sharing is made possible by our innovative approach to education. The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a brilliant academic framework which nurtures globally minded leaders. But it’s our teachers, many of whom are IB examiners, who elevate the curriculum through projects that inspire students to make their own discoveries – thinking less like students and more like entrepreneurs.
The environment for this wonderful learning journey is our ground-breaking campus. Our students spend time in amazing spaces that support different kinds of learning, whether it’s group work, quiet study, or even learning on the move.
Throughout my career, I’ve been lucky to experience life in different countries and cultures. But I’ve rarely found a place where everybody feels such a sense of belonging as they do here at ISS Lisbon. I can’t wait for you to discover it for yourself.

Multiculturalism
With over 50 nationalities, our multicultural community embodies global citizenship. But being truly multicultural is about more than diversity. It means educating ourselves about people’s differences and similarities, showing respect and empathy for everybody, and being proud to celebrate our shared identity.
Care
When everybody takes care of themselves, each other, and the environment, confidence grows and students feel empowered. We develop care by actively looking after plants, animals, and cultivating ecosystems, growing and harvesting food responsibly, and developing a sustainable mindset.
Hospitality
Communities only work when everybody feels welcome. If your family is relocating to Lisbon, we connect you with other families from similar backgrounds. We partner every new student with a buddy to make sure other children are looking out for them, right from day one. Meanwhile, our wide range of clubs and societies help every child meet new friends who share their passions.
Our history
We were founded by the Santos family, who understood that learning is most effective when students feel truly connected to the teachers, community and world around them. That’s why they set out to create a multicultural school as welcoming as any family, designed modern learning spaces that support collaborative learning, and put the word ‘sharing’ at the heart of our name: International Sharing School.
