School trips
We provide an extensive programme of educational excursions and travel experiences. The shared challenges and triumphs on these trips build strong bonds between students and teachers and create lifelong memories.
Whether appreciating arts and culture, taking part in sports competitions, community service or adventurous expeditions, these collaborative experiences promote teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience.
All school trips are carefully planned to ensure a great experience is had by all, while also ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding.
*Please note that school trips are dependent on reaching the minimum student numbers. Trips are not included in school tuition fees.

Arts and culture
Learning about great works of art or culture is greatly enhanced by experiencing museums and theatre productions first-hand. Throughout the school year, our students have the opportunity to visit destinations such as London and Paris, touring art galleries and museums, attending workshops and experiencing the excitement of attending live theatre shows.

Duke of Edinburgh Award
Offered at Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels, the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award provides a structured framework for personal growth. Participants complete activities in volunteering, outdoor adventure, skills development, and physical fitness as part of a well-rounded challenge.
All DofE students undertake an expedition as part of the award requirements, which recently took our students to the beautiful Arrábida natural park south of Lisbon. The trip encourages leadership, teamwork and self-reliance as participants plan their own route, set up camp and cook meals together.
End of term excursions
We celebrate the end of each school year with a variety of trips that provide opportunities to have fun, relax and explore a new destination. Trips might include a visit to the beaches of the Algarve, the beautiful island of Madeira, or city life in Seville.
Nature and conservation trips
Our DP students take part in conservation trips as part of the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) component of the MYP programme. Recent trips have included conservation experiences in South Africa and Vietnam.

Mountain Adventure Programme
Our new MAP programme offers an exciting opportunity to get involved in outdoor pursuits in locations such as the Serra da Estrela in central Portugal and the Swiss Alps. The challenging yet rewarding expeditions allow students to develop essential life skills such as leadership, perseverance, problem-solving, and teamwork while embracing both the beauty and challenging conditions of the great outdoors.
Model United Nations
Students who are taking part in our MUN programme have additional opportunities to travel while taking part in fixtures. These might be at neighbouring schools in Lisbon, in cities across Portugal such as Porto and Braga, or trips further afield to MUN conferences in Rome and The Hague.
Sports
fixtures
Members of our sports teams travel to tournaments across Europe. These have included volleyball in Madrid, football in Barcelona, and basketball in Rome and Aberdeen. These competitions are a great way to enjoy friendly competition while contributing to personal growth and a shared sense of community and responsibility.
