Building the Future: Introducing Bufori EViE at International Sharing School

Building the Future: Introducing Bufori EViE at International Sharing School

We’re thrilled to announce an extraordinary new initiative that will transform how our students engage with STEM learning at International Sharing School – Taguspark, in Lisbon: the Bufori EViE (Electric Vehicle in Education) programme. This isn’t just about building a race car—it’s about building future problem solvers, innovators, and responsible global citizens.

What is Bufori EViE?

Students aged 12–18 will design, build, and race an electric-powered, single-seater race car from a kit, combining hands-on engineering with sustainability education, charity work, and real-world skills development.

Over 35–40 hours of build time, our young people will learn engineering fundamentals, racing principles, and the value of teamwork whilst working on a project that challenges them academically and personally.

Why This Matters

This programme goes far beyond the workshop. We’re creating opportunities for students to discover their passions—whether that’s as drivers pushing for the fastest lap, engineers optimising performance, marketing teams securing sponsorships, data analysts tracking energy efficiency, or designers creating our team’s visual identity. Every student can find their place in this project.

The benefits extend across the curriculum: from mathematics and technical drawing to English communication skills, science principles, ICT, art, business planning, geography, and even history.

Students will develop motor skills, design thinking, and crucial soft skills like collaboration, time management, and resilience—the “5 Rs” of Reasoning, Resourcefulness, Reflection, Respect, Resilience, and Responsibility.

A Team Beyond Drivers

Success in Bufori EViE requires more than just skilled drivers. We need engineers, marketing specialists, charity administrators, graphic designers, data analysts, procurement coordinators, and many other roles that support the team.

This is a true multidisciplinary project where every contribution matters.

Continuous Innovation

Constant updates on technical improvements to enhance energy efficiency, speed, aerodynamics, performance, and reliability. These decisions are made collaboratively, giving students hands-on experience in problem-solving and innovation.

Student Voice and Leadership

Students will have the opportunity to lead in areas that excite them—whether managing sponsorship campaigns, designing the car’s look, or analysing race data. This project thrives on student voice, ensuring that ideas and creativity drive the evolution of our race team.

Real Impact

This initiative will raise aspirations, develop confidence, and provide authentic learning experiences that reach beyond the classroom into our local community. It positions our school as an innovator whilst offering students invaluable networking opportunities for young entrepreneurs.

Most importantly, it cultivates a passion for lifelong STEM learning and showcases what’s possible when determination meets opportunity.

We’re not just building a race car—we’re building futures.
