Dive into the Spirit of the Sharks – Our House System at ISS Lisbon

In the 2024–2025 academic year, we proudly introduced our School House System, inspired by our mascot – the Sharks! Our four Houses – Red Sharks, Purple Sharks, Green Sharks, and Yellow Sharks – have quickly become an essential part of school life, creating a vibrant sense of identity, colour and community across all year groups. 

The House system is designed to bring students, teachers, and staff together in a way that fosters belonging, collaboration, and pride. Every member of our school community is assigned to a House, ensuring that everyone has a role to play. Whether through a skill, a passion, or simply cheering their team on, our Houses create a sense of belonging that makes students feel part of something bigger and truly special. 

Last year, we launched House Tutor Groups, giving students a daily connection to their House through morning sessions and extended activities. From House Music and Art Competitions to Tree Planting, Trampoline Days, Spelling Bees, Math Challenges, Table Tennis, Chess, Giant Football, and even Brawl Stars tournaments, our activities embraced a healthy, fun, and inclusive competitive spirit. This year, we’ve already added our first school-wide Fun Run, and more exciting events are on the horizon. 

Students are Writing the First Chapter

Our current students are setting the foundations for House history, traditions, and culture. From creating chants and organizing signature events, these contributions will become part of our school’s legacy for years to come. 

Leadership Without Limits

While House Prefects often come from senior year groups, leadership is open to all. We encourage students of any age to step up and take a leading role. If you have an idea for an activity, your House Leaders and Prefects are ready to support you. 

Student Voice Shapes Activities 

Our House activities continue to evolve because we listen to our students. Their feedback and ideas shape the calendar, ensuring that events reflect their interests and passions. Whether it’s introducing new sports, creative challenges, or community projects, student voice drives innovation. 

At International Sharing School Lisbon, our House system is more than a structure – it’s a living, growing culture of belonging, leadership, and shared pride. Together, we are building something special, and every Shark matters.
